At Asilomar Conference Grounds we’re committed to green business practices in all facets of our operation. 

Certified Green Business 

We proudly hold an ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification, which demonstrates our commitment to green initiatives. 

Energy Conservation

At Asilomar our entire property uses CFL fixtures or is upgrading to LED lighting. We have also installed occupancy sensors around the property.

Water Conservation

We use large containers for drinking water for conference attendees rather than individual bottles. We encourage the use of reusable bottles and our water fountains are filtered for refilling.

Recycling

At Asilomar, we recycle and compost. Asilomar participates in a co-mingled recycling program which means that anything recyclable can go into a BLUE recycling container including paper, cardboard, glass, and aluminum. Additionally we recycle disposable gloves and have other various programs in place to reach zero landfill. 

Materials

We use cloth napkins where possible. All of our collateral is printed on 100 percent FSC certified and recycled paper stock along with vegetable-based inks. Asilomar follows these protocols along with many others including not accepting containers or packaging materials made from Styrofoam.

Sustainable Meals

Asilomar partners with various local farmers and producers to incorporate seasonal and fresh ingredients into our menus. We also participate in the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch Program to ensure we source seafood that is sustainable.
